	Amerika/ Der Norden von Südamerika Homann Erben, 1762 56,4 x 48 cm Verkauft / Sold Ausschnittkarte von Südamerika mit Konzentration auf das Königreich Peru. Oben links Titelkartusche, gerahmt von Landesdarstellungen und Schutzpatronen. Die Darstellung endet nördlich vom heutigen Belo Horizonte. Neben dem Königreich Peru, werden das Terra Amazonum, Brasilien sowie Guayana als eigenen Gebiete dargestellt. Im Jahr 1532 landete Francisco Pizzaro an der peruanischen Küste, nahm den Inkaherrscher Atahualpa gefangen und ließ ihn töten. 1533 war die Eroberung Perus durch die Spanier abgeschlossen und das Gebiet gehörte nun zum Reich Karl V. 1542 wurde das Vizekönigreich Peru errichtet, mit Lima als Hauptstadt.Die 1702 von Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724) in Nürnberg gegründete Offizin erlangte schnell einen hohen Bekanntheitsgrad durch die feinen und detailreich gestalteten Kupferplatten und konnte so die Kartographie in Deutschland als florierendes Geschäft etablieren. Nach dem Tod des Sohnes Johann Christoph Homann (1703-1730) ging die Leitung der Offizin auf Bekannte und Verwandte der Familie über. So wurde die Firma unter dem Namen Homann Erben von Johann Georg Franz Ebersberger (1695-1760) und Johann Michael Franz (1700-1761) ab 1730 weitergeführt. 1804 und 1813 werden Anteile an Fembo (1781-1848) verkauft, der das Unternehmen unter seinem Namen bis zu seinem Tod weiter führt. Ein Großteil der Homann-Karten war nicht datiert. Die Erben druckten die Kupferstiche in vielen Neuausgaben ohne Änderungen.

	Amerika/ Südamerika / Venezuela Montanus, Arnoldus, ca 1673 36,4 x 29 cm Copper Plate, Hand Colored This map is based on the Hondius map of Venezuela which is in turn is based on the cartography of Hessel Gerritsz. At the top is a cartouche decorated with a representation of the god Neptune, cherubs and a European explorer. In the center is an artistic compass rose. The sea is fill with commercial vessels. The bottom right contains a comparative mile cartouche and is framed by native representations and their livestock. Die Karte basiert auf der Hondius-Karte von Venezuela, die wiederum auf der Kartographie von Hessel Gerritsz beruht. Oben eine Titelkartusche, verziert mit Darstellung von Neptun, Putti und einem europäischen Entdecker. Mittig eine künstlerische Kompaßrose. Das Meer wird von Handelsschiffen befahren. Unten rechts eine Meilenkartusche, gerahmt von Darstellungen Einheimischer und deren Nutzvieh. Die Landschaften sind reliefartig ausgeführt. Im Landesinneren weitere Verweise auf die Tierwelt.Arnold Montanus publizierte 1671 einen bemerkenswerten Atlas von Amerika. Dieser enthielt Karten von Virginia, New England, Zentralamerika und der Karibik. Die Karten waren äußerst dekorativ.

	Amerika / Südamerika Wit,Frederick de, 1675 55 x 48 cm Copper Plate, Hand Colored This is a beautiful chart of the southern most point of South America. The display is covered with navigation lines. In the southwest of the chart is a compass rose and a merchant fleet engaged in a naval battle. Two compass roses adorn the seas. Being a chart, the interior of the continent is not depicted, however the coast is well detailed. In the empty space at the top of the map are European conquerors and traders who trade with South American indigenous peoples. The map is from Zee Atlas of Frederick de Wit. Schöne Seekarte von Südamerika. Die Darstellung ist überzogen von Navigationslinien. Westlich und südwestlich des Kontinents befinden sich Kompaßrosen und die Zeichnung einer Handelsflotte in einer Seeschlacht. Das Innere des Kontinents ist kaum gestaltet. Die Flußmündungen sind ebenfalls nur angedeutet.Im Leerraum befindet sich eine Darstellung von europäischen Eroberern und Händlern, die mit südamerikanischen Ureinwohnern handeln. Die Karte stammt aus dem Zee Atlas des Frederick de Wit.

On the bottom right is a very decorative title cartouche, framed by local portraits of indigenous peoples and examples of flora and fauna. In the seas are smaller sailing ships with a Dutch flag. Several sea monsters dwell in the oceans. On the continent, provinces and kingdoms are distinguished by different colors. The individual areas that were explored, are characterized also by showing drawing of animals and plants.

	Amerika/Südamerika-Süd Châtelain, 1713 kol. 51 x 40 cm Copper Plate, Hand Colored This is a beautiful, detailed map of the southern part of South America. It includes the countries of Paraguay, Chile, Tierra del Fuego and the present-day Argentina, which is described as the land of Magellan. The latitude of Capricorn, is clearly listed. On the bottom left is a description in French. The map is orientated north and on the seas the traces of the routes of various explorers are shown. Special features of the fauna, such as a Penguin, are shown.On many islands the date of discovery is recorded.

Copper Plate, Hand Colored A large and hihgly decorative two-sheet map of South America with two large cartouches, published in the "Atlante Veneto". The "Atlante Veneto" of Coronelli carries the date 1690 on its title-page but it was published in 1691, the date of its dedication and colophon. The Atlante was professionally designed as a continuation of Blaeu´s Atlas Major and by 1701 was extended to embrace up to twelve volumes.
