Zeigt die südliche Nordsee mit der Küste vom Skaggerak bis Dünkirchen." This is a southeasterly orientated map from William Blaue „Seespiegel”, from “De Rebus Publicus Hanseaticus Tactus”. This is a northerly facing chart based on William Blaues „Seespiegel”. It shows the North Atlantic coast of The Netherlands, England, Germany and Denmark. Comparative nautical mile measurements are presented in French, English and German. Territorial boundaries are represented by different colors on the coastline. Two compass roses are present on the bottom left and top right. From these rhumb lines extend and also from another three points. Matthäus Merian (1592-1650) was an engraver and publisher based in Frankfurt. His company was running until 1730. Merians best known work was his contribution to ‘Theatrum Europaeum’ a journal of German speaking lands. This was published between 1633 and 1738 in 21 volumes. Merian contributed many city views and representations of sieges. Zahlreiche Navigationslinien mit Zahlen zur Orientierung. Untiefen sind als gepunktetet Flächen zu erkennen. Matthäus Merian (1592-1650), Stecher und Verleger aus Frankfurt am Main, begründete eine erfolgreiche Offizin, die bis 1730 aktiv war. Zu den bedeutendsten und bekanntesten mit zahlreichen Stadtansichten und Darstellungen von Belagerungen versehenen Werken Merians und seiner Erben gehören das 21bändige "Theatrum Europaeum".

Keu-Karte 36,ca. 1: 250000." This is a beautiful, richly colored chart of the North Sea coast and the German bight. The map extends from Helgoland to the estuaries of Jade, Weser and The Elbe. On the bottom left is the title cartouche stating the manufacturer Johannes van Keulen The term "en Boeckverkooper Graedbooghmaker Tegenover de Nieubrugh, Gekroonde in de Lootsman." Was used by Van Keulen and his company from 1684 The top left section of the map shows a sub map of the city Hamburg. This contains its own title cartouche and with fortification lines evident on the borders of the city. The river entrances to the city is shown and of note the compass rose is pointed in a different orientation that the other two on the map. Johannes van Keulen was one of the most important chart makers of his time. He had brought the business and premises of chart maker Hendrik Doncker. From 1743 his publishing house even had a monopoly on the supply of the East India Company (VOC) with charts. The “Zee- Atlas" was published in 1680, in the years 1681 to 1684 it was followed in five parts, the "Zee-Fakkel", both works have been reprinted several times and expanded. These two Atlases are considered to be among some of the finest Dutch charts. Die Bezeichnung "Boeckverkooper en Graedbooghmaker tegenover de Nieubrugh, in de gekroonde Lootsman." verwendete der Kartograph für sich und sein Unternehmen ab 1684.Eine von einem floralen Band gesäumte Nebenkarte links oben zeigt die Elbe bis Hamburg mit separater Titelkartusche. Drei Kompassrosen geben die Ausrichtung der beiden Karten nach Süden an. Johannes van Keulen (1654-1715) war Gründer und Leiter einer der berühmtesten kartographischen Verlagsoffizinen, deren Bedeutung als Hersteller von Seekarten beträchtlich nach der Übernahme der Bestände von Hendrik Doncker I. (1626-1699) und Johannes Loots (1665-1726) in den Jahren 1693 und 1707 anstieg. Seit 1743 hatte die Offizin der Van Keulens ein Monopol auf die Versorgung der Ostindischen Kompanie (VOC) mit Seekarten. Ihr erster „Zee-Atlas“ erschien 1680, in den, in den Jahren 1681-1684 folgte in fünf Teilen die „Zee-Fakkel“, beide Werke wurden mehrmals neu aufgelegt und erweitert. Sie gehören zu den Spitzenleistungen der niederländischen Seeatlantenkartographie. Information on populations and there racial makeup are provided. A comparative scale of English miles and French Leagues is present at the bottom. This map was published by The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge by J & C Walker Sculp. This origination was set up in 1826 in England to promote learning amongst the largest market possible. Maps from this organization have a reputation for accuracy and high quality.
