Bermuda (USA) Blaeu, W.u.J., ca. 1649 kol. 53 x 43 cm This map was based on John Speed's map of 1626 with different illustrations. This was the first Dutch map of Bermuda and is the most technically brilliant printed map of the region in the 17th Century. On the top left is a cartouche with comparative measurements. Centered above the island group is the title cartouche which is accompanied by Neptune and other maritime images. Above the island group a compass rose is shown on the right hand side. The map is in Latin. At the bottom of the map is a table with a list of landowners. Die Karte basiert auf Speed´s Karte von 1626. Die Dekoration ist neu. Diese erste separate niederländische Karte der Bermudas ist die am meisten gedruckte und technisch brillianteste Karte der Bermudas im 17. Jahrhundert. Oben links befindet sich eine Kartusche mit Maßangaben. Oberhalb der Inselgruppe befindet sich die Titelkartusche. Diese wird begleitet von Neptun und weiteren Maritimen Darstellungen. Ebenfalls oberhalb der Inselgruppe ist eine Kompaßrose verzeichnet. Die Karte ist auf Latein beschriftet. Landeseigene Bezeichnungen sind in Landessprache gehalten. Am unteren Rand der Karte befindet sich eine Auflistung der Landbesitzer. Diese Wiederrum sind anhand der Zahlen auf den Inseln nachzulesen. Dadurch ist ein Übeblick über die Landwirtschaftliche Verteilung möglich.
